What Teaching 10 Teacher Trainings Taught Me About Guiding Students to Their Potential
The Power of Experience (and Why It Matters on Your Yoga Journey)
I still remember teaching my very first yoga class.
I had nothing prepared. I worked front desk, and a teacher no-called no-showed, they asked if I could sub. Sure. Why not? I’m sure it wasn't the greatest class that's ever been taught in the history of yoga (who knows?), but it was enough to show me: “Hey, I can do this”. That first class turned into another, and another... and somehow, here we are — after leading ten full 200-hour teacher trainings, thousands of classes, countless workshops, mentorships, and continuing education programs behind me.
It’s wild to think about. And yet, it feels like the journey is just getting started.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned along the way, it’s this:
Experience isn’t about being perfect. It’s about being present.
Because here’s the truth: the more I’ve taught, the more I've lived yoga — not just on the mat, but in every space between. I’ve seen the messy days, the breakthroughs, the heartbreaks, the transformations. I've watched students completely surprise themselves, and I’ve watched students doubt themselves when they were right on the edge of something incredible.
And I’ve seen it enough times to know: it’s all part of the path.
When you practice with an experienced teacher, you get more than instructions.
You get someone who knows how to read the room without a word being spoken.
You get someone who sees your potential even when you’re doubting it yourself.
You get someone who knows when to challenge you, when to support you, and when to simply step back and let you discover your own strength.
Experience brings a softness.
A patience.
An ability to hold space when things feel hard, and an ability to celebrate when they finally click.
It’s the kind of guidance that doesn’t just help you move better — it helps you become better. More confident. More trusting. More connected to yourself.
And honestly? That’s what keeps me showing up after all these years.
Every class still feels like a privilege. Every training still humbles me. Every student still teaches me something I didn’t know I needed to learn.
If you’ve practiced with me before — you’re a part of this journey.
If you’re thinking about practicing with me for the first time — I hope you know: you’ll never just be another face in the room.
You'll be seen. You'll be supported. You'll be challenged — lovingly — to step into the version of yourself you might not even realize is already there.
Here’s to experience, to growth, and to all the magic still ahead.
I can’t wait to meet you on the mat. 💕
